ABOUT The FAMILY PROGRAM of the Professional Education Center

As First Lady of the National Guard Bureau's Professional Education Center (PEC) and its Family Program, it's my pleasure to give you insights to this National Asset, the Family Program, and its families.

In a nutshell, I tell folks, "PEC is a training and conferencing facility training the fulltime National Guard forces from 54 States, territories, and the District of Columbia."  And I'll add, "PEC is a conference facility hosting conferences including the Senior Leader’s Training Conference, FORSCOM Commander’s Command Readiness Program Conference, and Federal Emergency Management Agency Conf. to name a few for over 20,000 yearly attendees."  And that is an ear full.

As you can imagine, it takes a family of over 450 military and civilians working together to support these successful operations. So, PEC's Family Program serves and includes the PEC Workforce which is comprised of assigned National Guard Title 10 Soldiers, ADOS Soldiers, Federal Employees, State Employees, Contractors...and their families.  This means that PEC's Families stationed at PEC are potentially from all 54 States, Territories, and DC.

Officially, our mission is to maintains and facilitates ongoing readiness, communication, involvement, and recognition, and support between PEC and PEC Families in a partnership that promotes the best in each.  And to empower families to be self reliant and responsibly interdependent as they navigate the contingencies and challenges of PEC and military life.  Unofficially, the FRG folks are working to help others make connections!

To understand our PEC Family, take a look at the many PHOTOs on this website, because these will make you smile as PEC folks work and play hard!  And to access some of the key resources, review the RESOURCE linked on this website, because these provide valuable support.  If you want to connect with a real person please call (501-212-4885). I look forward to meeting you personally.

Candy,

First Lady, National Guard Professional Education Center

The PEC's FRG embrace the FEATHER as a symbol of excellence, leadership, service, and family because:

Ï    Feathers worn give flight to what otherwise science identifies as something that can’t fly.

Ï    Feathers displayed by leaders acknowledge accomplishments where today feathers remind us that we are leaders of our selves, our homes, our families, our communities and our life-work…in a pursuit of balance and wellness.

Ï    Feathers given as a symbol of kindness with the intent that this kindness will continue in forward flight from giver to receiver with the hope that kindness will return to the original giver when needed.

Ï    Feathers attached to the PEC pin indicate you are one of our flock as… “Birds of a feather flock together!”
