ARE WE THERE—PREPARED
AND READY with the PIECES OF
OUR PROGRAM WHEN members and families need it?
(National Guard Bureau
promotes and encourages) 6 essentials for every viable unit program.
We’ve touched on some of
pieces as we’ve reviewed the key missions of the program.
We mentioned connection–
when a member joins the unit both the member and the family now have a
connection to the military that they didn’t have before. They are introduced to a new way of
life. Remember that in-processing provides the opportunity for
1st impression of the FP
The Welcome or invitation
is part of the sponsorship & support offered -- the opportunity
for that 1st impression of the unit—invite them to be
informed and involved.
Are we in place only
for deployments, in war time?
We must be ready any time
for info, and always for separation for training,
schooling, TDYs whether short-term or lengthy.
Our main purpose is readiness--to
assist and help both members & families prepare for
deployment.
Are we included in mobilization
briefings? Are we involved in the processing
lines?
Are families ready for the long
term if the member is extended or delayed in returning?
What resources do we have to offer in
support and services?
Are they informed and
prepared for the return and homecoming challenges at being reunited?
